We Need Seats!

My students need the proper seating for children with energy. Children nowadays need to move and be in different seating arrangements than they have before.

My Students

My school is located in the heart of a great neighborhood in Philadelphia. We are a Title I, public school that lacks the funding and the necessary resources, but we make due with what we do have.

My kindergarten students are a bunch of rambunctious, energetic, and passionate children.

My class is a mix of families new to the neighborhood and families that have been coming to my school for years. Although it is a mix, we are a community that helps foster the best in my students.

My Project

This is the twenty first century. Children now need different things than they did in the past. My students need to move around, and they love when I allow them to sit in different places. The problem is that the only place they can sit is the cold ground. I would like to get various forms of flexible seating options, which include wobble chairs, soft seats, and a backpatter's seat. Wobble chairs will help my students who have trouble sitting in the normal chair to be able to wobble while sitting in the chair. Also, soft seats will allow my students to sit else where in the classroom rather than sitting on the cold floor.

With these materials, my students will start to be able to sit in various places of the room with the appropriate seating for them.

It will allow them to be better learners and thinkers. This seating will allow them to be creative. They no longer have to sit in desks, but they will be able to go somewhere in the classroom and think for themselves rather than being told where to sit.

This is a new way of thinking, but it will help my students become more independent thinkers and problem solvers.
