I teach 4th and 5th grade Montessori students in a public school system. Most of the curriculum for Montessori aligns with the state standards. Montessori includes a geology study that is not a state standard and therefore we don't have many resources for it.
My students will learn how igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic rocks are formed and will be able to identify the different types of rocks.
The rock collection is perfect for our study of rocks because it allows my students to handle the rocks not just read about the rocks. Being able to work with the rocks will enhance the knowledge they will be able to acquire.
