My students need copies of assigned class novels, Unwind and The Outsiders, to use during novel units.

My Students

The students in my classroom come from a variety of backgrounds, but one thing unites them- they have all been identified as gifted learners. Gifted learners experience education in a multitude of ways. My district allows me to teach these students and offer them opportunities to explore areas that interest them the most. By allowing these unique students the time to develop their gifts, they have a higher overall satisfaction with school. These students also learn how to time manage and plan for big outcomes (projects, presentations, etc).

My Project

Books! We love books! However, there are 600 kids in our building and not enough books to share when the entire grade level is reading a book. We need to have our own copies of our assigned books, The Outsiders and Unwind.

These books have plots that speak directly to students about issues that affect them every day.

Characters in these books face feelings of being unwanted and unloved, life and death situations, and a lot of decision making. Because these themes are so familiar to so many students discussion and higher order thinking are common place during these readings.
