This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I have 19 students in my class this year. They are a great bunch, but have some challenges. All of my students are Hispanic and English is their second language. Fifteen of my students are in our ESOL program. I am their homeroom teacher and I work together with the ESOL teacher to give our students the best opportunities possible to prepare for second grade and beyond.
In addition to their language and cultural differences, my students face economic challenges as well.
Ours is a Title I school. Our students often lack basic necessities at home and at school. I often use my own resources to make sure my kids have what they need. My students and I would be very grateful for any donations in support of our classroom and learning needs.
My Project
As we are finishing out the school year, my students and I need some storage solutions! Being organized helps kids focus on learning. They can not only find their assignments and work more easily, but they can also use all of their brain power on learning, not on trying to remember where they put things!
Organization is key to education!
A teacher can have the best resources. Students can create incredible projects to demonstrate their learning. A classroom can house materials that offer great opportunities to learn. But if there is no clear, well-laid-out plan with lots of options to store all of it, learning is diminished.
Please help us to finish the year strong with much-needed organization! These items will be used for writing folders, work mat folders (with work mats for both Reading and Math), Reading and Math center bins, and trays to hold ongoing projects and assignments in all subjects.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
