This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Can you imagine trying to draw a straight line without a ruler? Or, trying to cut paper without scissors? Or, having to get up every 5 minutes to sharpen your colored pencil? Glue, glue bottles and tacky glue are essential in an art classroom!
I am the art specialist in a K-5 Arts school.
We are located in one of the poorest rural areas of the state. Our families are plagued by poverty and high unemployment rates. I see about 975 students every week, from kindergarten though grade five. All of the students receive free or reduced lunch. The student population is 95% Hispanic, 3% African American, 1% Caucasian, and 1% Asian. About 70% of the students in my room are learning English as a second language.
My Project
To make it easier on us we need reusable squeeze bottles for glue bottles with pumps to refill glue containers. We are currently running low and need a new supply!
Also, my upper level students require tacky glue to glue fabric, yarn and other materials to their projects. Without the proper glue it just won't stick!
These supplies are simple and basic but will allow students the opportunity to create brilliant pieces of original artwork!
Your donation will help us out of our "sticky situation" for some new glue. Although the actual glue will need to be replaced every year, the containers will last for years and years helping countless numbers of students.
