Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My third grade students have improved their reading skills so much this year. As a by product, they are growing bored with my classroom library. I have added to it as my personal budget will allow, but I need more books for my students. They have such a wide range of reading levels and interest. I am hoping to be able to add at least 1,000 new titles to my library for my students. I need sports books, non-fiction books, more modern biographies, more poetry books and more up to date fiction books. I have students who read at a second grade level, and students who read at a fifth grade level. We need more books! If we receive more books, then we'll need another book case and more tubs in which to sort and store our books. My students have organized the class library themselves and take great pride in it. They would have to sort the books into genres and organize them accordingly.
Everything I have read to enhance my skills as a reading teacher suggest that reading and writing skills heavily influence each other. If I can improve one, I can improve the other.
