When I think back to my childhood, I see myself in a desk, doing many paper and pencil tasks. The children of today are no longer engaged by such simple tasks. As teachers, we must constantly search for new and engaging ways to reel them in.
I have an exciting classroom of 28 first graders who love to learn.
Our school is located in a middle class area in Oklahoma. We serve many military families at my school. Due to rapid growth in our area, our district is still unable to implement full day kindergarten for every student. This means that my students come to me at many different levels. Some are reading fluently, and others do not know and letters or sounds.
My Project
I am requesting two Apple iPad minis with headphones and cases for my class. With these, we will be able to have small group technology time everyday in class. I have researched the web and found math and literacy games for the iPad that can be downloaded onto the iPad for student use.
My students will have the hands-on experiences with technology that they need and deserve.
They will be able to review concepts that we already covered in class, as well as work on new concepts at their own pace. With the iPad, the possibilities are endless!
