Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our morning begins when my first graders walk into the room laughing, talking, and bustling to get ready for another great learning day.
My school is considered an inner-city school.
Most of our students are identified as economically disadvantaged. All of our students participate in the National Free Lunch Program. My class consists of 24 first grade students. They are eager learners and try their best to achieve their dream. As their teacher, I want to give them the tools to enrich their learning experience.
My Project
In this upcoming year, my class will learn from a new math program. When I attedned the training, I learned that each of my students would need to use a personal white board made of two different color tagboards and sheet protecters.
They say that these personal white boards are more beneficial over commercially purchased white boards for different reasons.
For example, some templates such as number lines and place value mats can be stored between the two pieces of tag boards for easy access and reuse. Also it will help them work on the problems without marking the paper so that they can work on them independently at another time.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
