This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

In this technology savvy world, my students are required to write stories in which they are able to use a variety of digital tools to produce and publish writing, including in collaboration with peers. You can help make this a reality!

I teach twenty seven eager first graders in a TITLE I inner city school.

What we lack in resources, we make up for with enthusiasm! We are a K-8 school and we like to build a sense of community from the primary grades and upward! That is why activities such as writing a collaborative book are so vital!

My Project

I'm requesting color and black ink toner. The toner will serve numerous purposes. Students will be able to write a book in groups using color copies of photographs. What a way to get the children enthused! Color copies of photographs will only be possible with the color toner. I can also display color copies of students' work on the bulletin board. (The original goes into their portfolio!) Then, the bulletin board work can be sent home for their parents to treasure. The black toner is used in the classroom when a student makes a mistake on that next to last copy that I have left. My black and white copier has saved the day (and stopped many tears) more times than I can count!

Without your generosity, these supplies will not be available, due to severe cuts to the education budget.

The children love to see their work displayed. A color copy will make the bulletin board more attractive. It will also give the parents something to treasure forever! The students will be much more excited about writing when they have a color copy of a photograph to use as their illustration. Please help us meet the new writing standards. Keep my class on the cutting edge of technology.
