This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I currently have 25 six- and seven-year-old students in my classroom. I am teaching first graders in a Title I school, located in a high poverty and high crime area of Pennsylvania.
All of my students receive free breakfast and lunch.
Many of my students come from homes where English is not spoken. I have three special education students and two ESL (English as a Second Language) students in my classroom. Several of the students in my classroom have an in-class social worker.
My Project
We currently have no small white construction paper. We are also running low on ink in our classroom.
We need ink and paper in order to prepare for our Family Traditions Social Studies projects.
My students will be writing to their family members about what holidays they celebrated when they were younger and how they celebrated them.
We want to engage our families in helping my students learn about their family's customs and traditions.
My students will then use the white paper and ink to illustrate and print what they have learned from their families.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
