This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I work in a Title I School, where 100% of the students in my school qualify and receive free and reduced price lunch. My kindergartners live in a vibrant and diverse neighborhood that not only suffers from poverty, but also consists mainly of English Language Learners. Many of them have not had any prior schooling before stepping foot into my classroom.
My scholars are incredible students who, despite their economic situations, are still extremely motivated.
Unfortunately, many of them will not get the recommended 60 minutes of daily movement at home. I want them to get it at school.
My Project
I have 18 very active kindergartners that are only able to go out for recess on days that we don't have P.E. That is only 2 days out of the week. During our morning meeting, I asked the students what are their expectations of school. They told me that they want to have fun and play in the classroom and in the playground. I decided that I would find a way to ensure that they did 60 minutes of movement a day in our classroom. The ergonomic stools allow for freedom of movement and provide support for children while also making them engage their core to stay sitting upright. The poly spots can be used for markers, hopscotch, bases and even educational targets. The parachute will be used for morning meeting to make it more interactive and get them moving nice and early.
Your donation will help my students to reach and surpass the recommended 60 minutes of movement!
Due to the fact that we are in a low income community, many families find it easier to pack junk food for their child instead of a healthy one. Even the healthy ones tend to be full of sugar. I wanted to educate them so they can know the difference and hopefully help their parents make wiser decisions when they shop. The Health and Safety Kit will help them to sort healthy and unhealthy foods.
Thank you for you time in reading this and for your donation. My students will be able to get what they are asking for, They will be able to move, learn and have fun, all thanks to support from people like you and companies like yours.
