This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are the heart and soul of the school. We help create and maintain school spirit with our music and our positive contributions to the surrounding community.
Although we are not in the most affluent area of Los Angeles County, we have a proud tradition here of making the best of any situation and doing the best with what we've got.
We are a largely hispanic community with limited means, but with the help of our boosters, our community and donors like you, we find ways to succeed and make our own pathway to success.
My Project
We need a solid "field frame" for our vibraphone. One that is meant for moving it from our band room on to a truck, on to a football field, into a gym, back on a truck and back into the band room.
Imagine being backstage of the last (and most important) competition of the year and your vibraphone COMPLETELY comes apart into pieces.
That is what happened to us this year. We held it together as best we could for the performance but make no mistake, it was done.
This replacement simply is not in our budget. Although we would like to purchase an entirely new vibraphone, We are going to try and reconstruct our old one with a stronger, sturdier frame.
