My students have very unique and diverse needs. They are a wonderful bunch of 3rd graders who have a thirst for learning and are very inquisitive and enthusiastic. It is my goal as an educator to help them grow and explore the world around them.
In my classroom there are a variety of different learning styles.
Because of this we are constantly moving around the room and working in groups. Every student deserves to have the opportunity to learn in an environment that supports their needs, in a place that they feel safe, and in a way that allows them to be successful.
My Project
Providing more flexible seating options in my classroom will create a greater variety of learning spaces to support the diverse learners in my classroom. By having a larger variety of seating options students will be able to have voice, choice, ownership over their ideas and space, room to explore their passions comfortably, freedom to collaborate and share their authentic work, and control over their own learning journey.
Each student is a unique individual and has different style of learning, which is why flexible seating will support all the diverse learners in our classroom.
Currently students have some seating options, however, all are at a standard desk level. Having a high table will allow my students to have more choices in where they work as well as help to provide different perspectives of the classroom. Whether it is bouncing on a ball or sitting at a tall table students will be more engaged and take ownership of their own learning.
