My Students

The students in my classroom come from a variety of backgrounds, but one thing unites them- they have all been identified as gifted learners. Gifted learners experience education in a multitude of ways. My district allows me to teach these students and offer them opportunities to explore areas that interest them the most.

By allowing these unique students the time to develop their gifts, they have a higher overall satisfaction with school.

These students also learn how to manage time and plan for big outcomes, and projects, presentations.

My Project

This project would provide five sets of realistic fiction titles that bring the world to the classroom. These diverse books include Amal Unbound and the Night Diary. My students, who are in grades 6-8, will be able to self-select one of the titles and work with a small group of classmates to explore the topic within.

My students never feel more empowered than when they have the ability to choose their own reading and work in groups of their choosing.

Having these titles available to them will expand the possibilities of learning about people from other cultures, different time periods, and allow for understanding outside our four walls. I hope to inspire curiosity, civic engagement, and a general love of nonfiction. With your help, these desires can become reality.
