This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are wonderful math scholars in the making. They are enthusiastic future world changers who need your helping hand. While they may live in a community with challenges they strive to improve themselves through hard work and optimistic outlooks. The school community is a diverse neighborhood in Philadelphia with wonderful families. Sadly the area as been hit by opioid addiction and economic hardship. Many of my students rely on our school for both warm meals and a safe place to simply be a child. I want our classroom to go from a drab square to a warm welcoming safe place overflowing with educational opportunity.
My Project
My students do not usually travel outside of the community, and while I can not have all 30 students board a flight to Rome to explore art, I can use Chromebooks to log them into digital museums. I want to expose my students to arts accross the world though virtual museum tours and we need Chromebooks to help that happen. Students will use the computers to explore and research how artist must use math to create beautiful images. Students use measurement and fractions to receate works of art they find visually pleasing.
Help my students roam the walls of Roman art museums and development measurement skills by recreating works of art.
I truly want to create an apreacition for art while exposing partitcal fun uses for math. We need your help to bring Paris museums to an inner city Philadelphia school.
