Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach at what is called a school of choice. We provide an alternative to the traditional high school setting. We cater to students whose circumstances require flexible hours, personalized instruction, immense emotional support, and a small-campus setting that allows us to meet them exactly where they are.
Our students realize the importance of graduation, and they come to us with that goal in mind.
They are a diverse group of learners, and each brings a unique set of talents and circumstances.
My Project
Our campus does not have a library, but that doesn't stop our students from requesting books. We worked very hard at the beginning of the year to establish an environment where EVERYONE reads EVERY DAY. Our English teachers spend every penny they can, using their own money to get books in kids' hands.
Every book counts.
Please help us build our classroom libraries and fill student requests. There is nothing like walking into a high school classroom and seeing every single student reading something of his or her choice. The energy is magical.
