My Students

I teach the Fourth-grade Sheltered English Immersion students at my school in Brockton, MA. These students come from all different parts of the world with little to no English skills. These students and their families are excited to learn and grow. My students and their families are not as privileged since they come from different countries and move to America to have a better life. These students deserve the best education.

Brockton is the city of champions and wants to continue being that!

Our students come from a variety of different economic backgrounds with over eighty percent of our students receiving free lunch. Despite so many hardships, my students are eager to learn and do their best. They want to be in school because they want to learn all they can, so they can be successful one day. Our school serves students in grades kindergarten through eighth and provides rigorous academics, fantastic teachers and a safe learning environment. I am teaching 25 English language learners students this year. Many of my students are just learning English and come from different countries around the world.

My Project

My students come from different places around the world and don't always see themselves in the readings we have. Its important to have multicultural books so students can see themselves in the books we read in class. We are requesting read aloud and multicultural books for my classroom.

When children read these different books they are more likely to make connections which foster their own learning.

In the classroom we want to be proud of our diversity and the different places we come from. I also want my students to learn about new places around the world. Every student is special and deserves to be shown that. These books will help do so.
