This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The great Dr. Seuss said, "The more you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go." My students love books. They feel empowered and proud when they see a word on the page they know.
My students attend a school in East Los Angeles.
They are very inquisitive and come to school daily to learn. They have special needs and do not process information in the same manner as your average student yet they try their best every day. The LeapFrog storybooks will give them the opportunity to read about beloved characters and take them to places Dr. Seuss spoke about.
My Project
My students need 20 LeapFrog Tag Storybooks to interactively read along as each word comes alive, grabs their attention and teaches them to read. My students have exceptional needs in areas of communication and language, listening and auditory processing as well as English language learners. They thrive and flourish on fun exciting books that capture their attention and challenge them to learn. They require focused repetition when they are learning the alphabet, letter sounds, and to blend words. LeapFrogs interactive technology is visually stimulating and will enhance tactile skills by having the ability to control the instrument while learning to read.
If learning to read can be made fun, they will keep trying until they master the task that others learned much earlier.
