We Need Books for Our Book Nook!

My students need sight word books for their reading level. These books contain words that my students know or can easily sound out making reading an enjoyable experience.

My Students

As once said by Dr. Seuss, "The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go." A goal for my kindergarten students at the end of the year is to be able to read. We work very hard each day by working on skills that will lead to reading.

This year I will have two classes; a morning kindergarten class and an afternoon kindergarten class.

We are a Title 1 school at one of the oldest schools in our district. Several of our students aren't exposed to literature outside of the classroom. Because of this, I try to use every opportunity I get to share the love of reading with my students.

My Project

The "Book Nook" is one of my students favorite centers and I want them to be able to experience a love for reading! The leveled sight word books are perfect for this. The children will have a cozy place to curl up with a book that they can actually read. Having literature at their reading level enhances their love for reading and makes them want to pick up a book and read.

The leveled sight word books will make an impact on my class by introducing them to fiction and non-fiction books at their level.

They will be able to read these books in our "Book Nook."
