My Kindergarten students are curious, hardworking, and motivated kids! They are going to be starting Kindergarten and learning how to read. Currently, all of my students are learning from home. My students and I connect using Google Classroom, our Classroom Facebook page, ZOOM, and other platforms so that we can all see each other's smiling faces.
Some of my overall goals are for my students to create strong friendships, social skills, and to LOVE to read.
My Project
My Kindergarten students are eager to learn how to read once they enter Kindergarten. As they become readers, it's important to increase their confidence in their ability to read. To do this, I provide my students with Just Right Books. We introduce these easy-to-read books by creating our book boxes. My students will be able to get their first book box from me packed with books to read, plus tickets to decorate it with.
My students have the opportunity to decorate their book box with stickers, and start the year with Just Right Books that they can read!
My students are currently learning from home, and many of them do not have books that are Just Right for them. If I provide my students with sturdier, plastic book boxes, I will be able to put books into the hands of my students that are at their academic level. These book boxes will help foster my students' love for reading and help them become more confident in their ability to read.
