My Project
My students are a diverse group of curious and excitable learners in special education math, reading, and writing courses. Our focus in this resource setting is intense intervention supports to help close the students' academic gaps. I strive to do this in a way that is engaging, culturally relevant and emphasizes elements of social and emotional learning. Many of my students, despite their 3rd and 4th-grade status, are unable to meet these grade-level standards and benchmarks in reading, writing, and math. My goal is to bring joy and interest back into their learning while teaching them crucial life skills so that they can thrive academically, socially, and personally. My students have brought so much joy into my life. I hope to do the same for them by being the best, most inspiring educator I can be!
Students should be reading each and every day.
The more students read, the more confidence they gain in their reading abilities. When students gain confidence, the more they will want to read, and the better readers they become! Given my sparse library of inherited books, my readers struggle to find books at their ability level, leading to frustration and disinterest in reading. Filling my library with fiction and nonfiction books tailored to my student's interests and ability levels will help foster student's love for reading. I cannot wait to see my students grow their desire to read. Help me bring the joy back into reading with age appropriate guided reading books!
