Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
We could really use some basic supplies! A lack of funds means a decrease in spending, and the cuts are affecting us. We could really use some basic supplies, like a first aid kit which is not provided by the school. We could also really use simple things, like push pins and a pencil sharpener.
I work at a low income, Title 1 school at which 100% of students qualify for free lunch.
Many of my students will be the first in their families to graduate from high school. Many of my students are college-bound, highly motivated, hard working and dream of success.
My Project
I know this sounds silly, but a paper cut can really get in the way of learning. It is amazing how the small things in life, like a band aid, can help a student focus and feel comforted. A first aid kit would minimize trips to the nurse's office, and increase a student's ability to focus and succeed. Similarly, having basic supplies, and not worrying about being able to sharpen your pencil or not having something to write with, help a student focus.
