My Students
I teach in a rural area where more than half of the children are below the poverty level and receive public assistance. Because of our high agricultural industry, many parents are migrant workers and move often to provide for their families. This fact alone puts many of our children at a disadvantage for learning. All students at our school receive free lunches due to the majority of the median incomes that our parents have. However, these odds do not stop our children from wanting to learn.
My classroom this year has eighteen children who are each unique and special to me.
My Project
I have a very energetic, special class this year. They all deserve to have all that they need in the classroom to succeed. This is sometimes difficult with my students financial situations at home.
We need basic classroom supplies in our classroom, including Crayola markers and crayons, Astrobright paper, and bingo chips.
The joy on my students' faces is amazing when they receive school supplies of their own. In most areas, this would not be a huge deal, but in our county, new supplies make a world of difference to them in the classroom every day.
Every child in our classroom loves learning and deserves to have the supplies they need each day to succeed.
