This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We need a bad, rad, iPad because students are very motivated by them.

I teach kindergarten at a Title 1 school.

I currently have 22 students. All of my students are English Language Learners. They come from a variety of backgrounds, cultures, and socio-economic backgrounds. Reading, Writing, and Math are often difficult for English Language Learners. English Language Learners learn faster with hands-on activities, so I want to give them the tools to make learning easier.

My Project

My students love working with technology and would benefit by being able to work in Reading, Math, and Writing at their own level and speed with an iPad. We currently have one iPad that we check out from our school library. Students rotate using a timer and our class list to work on the iPad 10-20 minutes a day. Both the students and I have seen the focused work and their growth academically. Having a second iPad that would consistently be in our classroom would allow the students more access to educational applications that will help my ELL students to learn letters, sounds, numbers, and read stories. With an iPad in the class, the students would be better prepared for the rigor of First Grade.

The various applications on the iPad mini will help my students to learn to work together while accessing the applications they need to learn in Kindergarten.
