I am an AIS teacher located in New York City. I teach eager kindergarten, first, second, and third-grade children who are struggling readers and writers. My students are devoted to learning but need a different approach toward their education. They need small group instruction that uses many types of manipulatives.
When my children are successful, the look of wonder in their eyes is a sight to behold.
It is truly what makes being a teacher the best job in the world.
We are located in an extremely overcrowded elementary school in New York. We work very hard and appreciate learning through laughter, fun, and play. It is a long school day when all we do is sit in our seats and work.
You often hear an explosion of laughter coming from my classroom.
Second grade is an awesome place for any child to be. I am a second-grade teacher for a very eager and excitable group of children. I am truly a lucky teacher.
My Project
The exciting news is that our school days are returning to normal next year. This means that all my students will be in our classroom. It also means we have an opportunity to expand our education through some awesome educational sites. Just one little problem; we need the technology to support this learning experience.
Imagine the expression on a seven-year-old's face when they see the blue 24 inch Apple iMac just waiting for them to use.
They will look for every opportunity to use this computer, and use it they will! We will use the computer to research how to keep ourselves physically and mentally healthy. It would be great to send a child who needs extra support, or enrichment to use the computer.
Chromebooks have their place in the classroom, but a desktop computer has a larger screen and won't accidentally fall on the floor.
Apple computers are built to withstand the heavy use of many children. It won't break down or need constant updates.
