My students need a cozy, inviting place to practice their reading skills.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Cozier's classroom raised $619

My Students
My first grade students have been displaced from our school due to damage from hurricane Sandy. We are currently sharing a classroom with another first grade class and there is no place for the children to sit and practice their reading.
My first graders are little spark plugs who love to read and learn.
They are currently dealing with the devastation caused by Sandy in both their homes and in our beloved school. Our school was flooded and as a result the oil tanks ruptured, releasing over 32,000 gallons of fuel oil into the basement. There is currently no return date set for us. My students are REALLY missing their reading corner and the ability to buddy read with each other on the rug.
My Project
I am requesting carpet squares so the children can get close as a story is read. I'm also requesting an easel and an assortment of leveled books so that the children can continue their journey of becoming fluent readers. My hope is to be able to set up a reading corner so that the children can keep up with the progress that they've made so far.
This project is so important to me because I've been teaching my children about how a good book can take you anywhere and with all the devastation that we've seen recently around our homes we need a safe cozy place to continue our reading journey.
