This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students come from many neighborhoods in New York City, and from many backgrounds. They are African-American, West Indian, West African, Latino, Central American, Asian, and Eastern European, among other nationalities and cultures. They are also a diverse group in terms of learning issues and gender identity.
My students are striving for a better future through their education.
Most will be the first person in the family to attend college. My students can be positively transformed each day with highly engaging educational experiences.
My Project
My students need a new laptop computer to run our new Smartboard. We have just received the Smartboard, but are currently borrowing a very old laptop to run it.
If we had a new laptop we would be able to do so much more in class!
The one we have now is not able to run new program formats, and it crashes frequently. The Smartboard we have is great but it is essentially a screen with speakers. This new laptop with be the "heart" and "brains" of our multimedia experience in our classroom.
This new laptop will make a huge difference in our classroom learning experiences.
It will make our multimedia activities come alive, and it will allow students to present their projects easily and effectively in class using up-to-date programs and formats. In addition, the portability of the laptop will allow me to do these activities in multiple classrooms, because I am required to work in three rooms currently.
