This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
These days, it would be very difficult to find a career that does not have a need for some sort of coding, or computer programming skills. With the use of new apps, elementary students are able to learn the basics of computer programming. They are also able to lean basic keyboarding skills.
They are full of life and very eager to learn.
Unfortunately, they come from very disadvantaged home lives. Almost all of my students are English learners who are struggling to learn all of the complexities of the English language. Their parents are hard working, but sometimes unable to help them with their studies due to language barriers or work schedules. My students are eager to learn about the world around them and love any kind of technology.
My Project
My students need a MacBook Pro and protective case to help my students prepare for the 21st century. An extra MacBook Pro for small group instruction and projects would be an amazing addition to my classroom! Most of my students do not have any access to a computer at home. We have 1 computer and one laptop in my classroom which 24 students share. A MacBook Pro and case would allow my struggling learners to have access to the numerous reading and math games that Apple has available. It would also allow my students to learn the basics of computer programming and keyboarding. I would love for my students to be able to use the Tynker and Scratch apps to learn basic coding skills. As we move into a more technologically advanced world, it is so important that my students have the proper tools and experiences.
Your generous donation would be immensely appreciated by my students.
My students would be able to learn the fundamentals of computer programming through the coding apps. They would have the opportunity to use technology at the most basic level. Though they have limited access to technology at home, my students would have the opportunity to use the MacBook Pro at school. We thank you in advance for your kindness
