Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

In our classroom we dare to be the pop of color in the black and white that surrounds us.

My students are energetic, loving, hardworking students like most middle school students.

They come from many different backgrounds and most qualify for free or reduced lunch. Many students do not have technology other than their parents smartphones at home so the only place they are able to experience it is in the classroom. A large percentage of my students this year are English Language Learners.

My Project

My students and I are requesting a color printer to use in the classroom with some of the amazing technology that has been donated from amazing donors like you. We have been very fortunate in the past to have technology donated to our classroom and we are looking to expand our horizons by adding a color printer into the mix. My students are in middle school and are very interested in art and technology. We would like to combine the two this year by making brochures, posters, and information booklets to explain our understanding of the common core state mathematics standards. In the past we have been able to make beautiful examples of these but when we go to print them out and share them with family, friends, and school district personnel they do not show the true beauty behind the project. With the current technology on campus they are only able to print in poor quality black and white.

My students would like to create and print something that they can show not only their understanding of mathematics but also their personalities in beautiful colors.

Middle school students need something to look forward to every day and I believe that this will be one thing that will motivate them to do well and make them more creative.
