This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I currently have 24 six- and seven-year-old students in my classroom. I am teaching first graders in a Title I school, located in a high poverty and high crime area of Pennsylvania.
All of my students receive free breakfast and lunch.
Many of my students come from homes where English is not spoken. I have three special education students and two ESL (English as a Second Language) students in my classroom. Several of the students in my classroom have an in-class social worker.
My Project
We need a bookcase they will display the books in our classroom.
We would love to have a Lending Library Bookcase in our classroom in order for our students to borrow books and read these books to their families.
These books will be arranged by reading level. We currently have students reading at 6 different reading levels. The 6 shelves will have books at each of my students current reading levels.
My students will get to take home books on a weekly basis and read these books to their families.
Please support this exciting project to make my students' families more involved in their learning.
