My Students
At times we like to get a little messy in art but we some supplies to help us! We need a vacuum to stay clean, wipes to clean our hands and air fresheners to make our classroom a home!
I am the art specialist in a K-5 Arts school.
We are located in one of the poorest rural areas of the state. Our families are plagued by poverty and high unemployment rates. I see about 975 students every week, from kindergarten though grade five. All of the students receive free or reduced lunch. The student population is 95% Hispanic, 3% African American, 1% Caucasian, and 1% Asian. About 70% of the students in my room are learning English as a second language.
My Project
We love to lay on the floor and work, but sometimes it's just dirty. We have a carpet, but it simply is disgusting. I want students to feel safe and secure when working on projects in my room during or after class, I want them to work where they are most comfortable and not afraid of where they are sitting. These resources will help keep the room clean and spotless for every student that walks into the Art room. In addition, these cleaning materials will positively reinforce the attempts many students make to clean up after themselves. We want to be teaching our children to take good care of our Art room, but right now, teachers supply cleaning materials, and it's sometimes hard to supply students with the materials they seek when they ask to help clean.
Please help me and all my students take care of the Art room since it really means a lot to all of us.
