One of the biggest challenges I face in my classroom is that we do not have enough time. Having a document camera would enable me to project work that my students have done instead of having them take time to recreate it on the dry erase board.
My students are bright, energetic, and helpful.
Many of them have been in the same class since Kindergarten. Because of this, they are not at all shy when it comes to sharing with each other their latest piece of writing or a new strategy for solving a math problem!
My Project
A document camera would greatly benefit my class. As teachers, we are always asking our students to show their work and prove how they arrived at an answer. By having a way to quickly and easily project their work, I can increase the number of opportunities my students have to share with their classmates. Besides the benefit of learning from their peers, the document camera will also allow my students to develop their oral language skills. Since their work will be projected, we can devote our time to listening to the student talk about what they did and why.
My class consists of aspiring doctors, scientists, athletes, mathematicians, musicians, politicians, teachers, artists, and lawyers.
No matter what career path my students decide to take, it will be important that they are comfortable presenting their ideas and their work. Help my students learn this skill early on by contributing to our document camera project.
