We Need A Clean And Healthy Classroom!

My students need essential supplies to keep our classroom clean and our bodies healthy.

My Students

My second graders are voracious readers! They love to read both fiction and non-fiction books. Their favorite characters include Pete the Cat, Fly Guy, Piggie and Elephant, and Mercy Watson. They also love to read about insects, space, and plants. My students are hungry bookworms! They are eager to learn and read about the world around them.

My students love to be at school and are like little sponges absorbing everything around them.

Their parents work long hours and usually do not see their children. The children are usually cared for by their grandparents or a family friend. Most of them do not have someone who speaks English at home. Thus, it is difficult for students to acquire language.

Due to financial hardships, my students do not have the opportunity to participate in extracurricular activities during the school year or summer.

My Project

The cleaning products will be used in the classroom to keep our learning environment sparkling clean! With the budget cuts to the custodial staff, it is hard for every aspect of the classroom to be cleaned thoroughly and on a regular basis. We need to use Clorox wipes to clean our tables, seat sacks, and book pouches on a daily basis. Our hands need to be cleaned in the classroom and on school trips with Purell and baby wipes. A "Germ Monitor" will be responsible for organizing and replenishing the cleaning products for the class. In addition, my second graders will need nutritious snacks to to fill their hungry tummies and and re-energize their bodies. Our mornings are jammed packed with reading, writing, and math. As we transition from subject to subject, students constantly ask when is lunch time. My students are even more hungry when they return from Physical Education or outdoor activities. I am asking for various healthy snacks such as fruit snacks, crackers, and cookies for my students to snack on during the school day and to take home to snack on before they start their homework.

Your donations to this project will allow me to keep the classroom germ free for my second graders and provide nutritious snacks to rejuvenate their brain cells during the long work day.

Due to budget cuts, the custodial staff is limited and there are limited cleaning products available for teachers and students to use in the classroom.
