This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are a lively and inquisitive bunch that show up to class eager to learn, despite the challenges they are faced with in and out of the classroom. I have a wide variety of learning styles and levels. Every student in my classroom is unique and everyone in the room respects each other. Throughout the day, I see random acts of kindness in our class which makes me so happy! I care about my students and they know it!
My goal, as a bilingual teacher, is to encourage my students to love learning and to develop lifelong independent learners.
I especially love that they try their BEST on everything that comes their way! They love to read and enjoy hands-on activities. They are great helpers and I know I can count on them. Every day I make sure and instill good qualities that will make them amazing citizens.
My Project
My classroom needs a makeover, and this area rug will make our environment feel more cheerful and put together. Our school was built in 1974, so it is almost 50 years old, and I always try my best to decorate with pops of color so that my students feel welcome and safe.
I usually purchase an area rug every summer for my classroom, but thankfully I discovered Donor's Choose and can now ask for help.
The area rug will be used as a meeting space where we can learn and grow together about all subjects! It will be used when I read to my students or as a place where they can sit and read during D.E.A.R. (Drop Everything and Read) time. My students look forward to sitting on the rug and I think the size I am requesting will accommodate more of my students than the current 4x6 that I purchased. I am also asking for a rug pad and bean bag refill to fill 2 bean bags we have. Please support our classroom makeover.
