My students need a color copy machine to make our science projects jump off the page.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am extremely lucky to be teaching an awesome group of fifth graders. They are the most eager learners I have ever encountered. They are extra special because they are English Language Learners. Some of my students enter my classroom with out speaking a word of English.
I truly admire the ability of children to adapt to school and their new environments so quickly.
When you add in the fact that they are attending an overcrowded school in New York City you realize how truly amazing and brave these children are.
My Project
My students love to work hard at school, but they are especially fascinated by science. We have spent many hours deep in discussion about different aspects of a lifecycle, chemical reactions and environmental science. One thing has been missing. When we complete the research we do not have a color printer to enhance our work.
Imagine a ten year old who has completed research on a caterpillar.
Now think about the child's reaction when he can print the insect out in color. Color allows my students to see the tiny nuances that make up our insects and animals. When we want to emphasize recycling, the color printouts are essential. How else would everyone know which bins are for recycling?
