Providing for the needs of special education students will certainly be one of my greatest challenges as a professional educator. Not only will these students demand more of my time and patience; so, too, will they require specialized instructional strategies in a structured environment that supports and enhances their learning potential.
The students in my class are very diverse in ethnicity, race, social class, and needs.
Curious, enthusiastic, and creative, my students are eager to immerse themselves in any kind of challenge. I want to give them the best education I can give and help them to be successful in their lives and in their future.
Our motto is if you are not willing to learn, no one can help you. If you are determined to learn no one can stop you!
My Project
My class is an Autism class. They are easily distracted and can be disruptive to the teachers and students in class. We try to give them a positive outlet for breaks. Keeping them in a calm environment if they are overly stimulated and giving them a space for an active outlet when they are needing to let off some steam. With a variety of ways to help them stay on task and cope with day-to-day tasks. Slowly swaying back and forth? As humans, we often feel the need to move in order to focus!
The sensory items will help my students calm down to have a safe and healthy learning space.
