Helping to put creative filmmaking tools into the hands of my students is one of my greatest priorities. Through the support of our families and community, our film program and the quality of our students work has grown substantially the past few years - but we still have far to go. Aside from being able to give student filmmakers access to an additional camera, the Blackmagic 6K is a 'cinema camera' which creates truly 'cinematic' images for their short films and documentaries.
At the end of the day, students need the right tools to do the job - and the direct impact of professional film production tools on the quality of student production work cannot be understated.
The Blackmagic 6K is a little cinema camera with the quality of a camera twenty times the costs. Because it captures up to 6K resolution, a single shot can be re-framed to a tighter shot in post, helping filmmakers to achieve wide and tight shots and still finish in 4k resolution. It also supports 13 stops of dynamic range to preserve greater detail in the lightest and darkest areas of an image than a standard video camera can. The phrase 'fix it in post' actually holds true in this case.
