My Students

Many teachers might believe that they have the perfect students but I really do. My students are perfect to me because each day between 9-4 they are my kids. Like every great class, my students have many different experiences as well as learning styles.

It takes a village to raise a child and my students are the next aspiring village teachers.

That being said I need to do whatever it may take to prepare them for such an important future job.

My Project

My students need Safco AlphaBetter desks. My long term goal is to have every student of mine have a standing desk. However, my short term goal is to include two in my classroom. With two standing desks in my classroom, I hope that students who struggle on focusing and need to move more can utilize these desk stations. I already have students who appreciate the fact that I let them stand in the back of the room if they are feeling the need to move. I couldn't imagine how great it would be for these students to be able to have a desk that fits these needs!

Research has shown that too much sitting is bad for our health and students are facing challenges that may be due to the fact that they are sitting all day long.

A few problems include obesity and attention disorders. Research has also found that students learn better when moving. This is not an option when they are forced to sit all day. With eighty-two minute periods, students need an option to move. Moving equals beneficial learning and I can't see any better benefit than that!
