My Students

I have a wonderful group of 13 students. We are a special needs classroom in an awesome intermediate school. I have students with outstanding abilities! We do have our share of challenges. We all work together as a team to achieve our goals. We will do whatever it takes to help our kids succeed!

My students are some of the most creative kids I have ever worked with.

We focus on abilities and we have many diverse skills and gifts. Our school is an intermediate school with approximately 600 students. We have an amazingly inclusive environment. All of our special friends are included in all aspects of school life.

My Project

Many of my students struggle with staying seated and being able to focus during instructional time (both inside my self contained class as well as some of the general education classes they attend). The ball seat, seat discs and fidget items would allow many of my kids to participate greater in the general education setting. Research has demonstrated that these items help students have a better focus on their academics.

I really believe that these items would have a tremendous impact on my classroom.

I also believe these items would be mobile, and students could take them out into a general education class, thus allowing them to better participate. I think these items would be a temporary sensory need during instructional times, allowing for better concentration. This will in turn increase focus, participation, and learning.
