Help me give my students a variety of culturally-diverse books. My students enjoy reading and they deserve to see themselves represented in recent, relevant novels.

My Students

My kids are diverse learners and many of them are also English language learners. They love to laugh, tell stories, and be silly with each other. The majority of my students have lived in Chicago for their whole lives, but represent a variety of cultures and languages from all over the world. At my school, we teach our students to be proud of their own heritage and to seek knowledge about the world and the people around them.

My Project

These resources will make a difference in my students learning because kids improve their reading and writing skills as they read for leisure. To often, students see reading as an assignment or homework, but I want my students to learn that reading can be just as enjoyable as their favorite activity or game.

It is important for my kids to have access to culturally-diverse books so they can be proud of themselves and advocate for themselves in their daily lives.

My kids often borrow books from the classroom, and they should have access to books which they can both relate to and enjoy.
