My Students

My classroom consists of 18 first grade students! They are eager to learn! The students I teach come from a variety of backgrounds and have a wide range of abilities. Many of them receive free or reduced-price lunch, and,unfortunately, more of them than you can imagine have already experienced trauma in their lives. Despite so many hardships, my students are eager to learn and do their best.

Students in my classroom LOVE to be involved in their learning. This year we need more leveled books to read independently in the classroom and more literacy learning center materials. Students get to choose their books for their book boxes.

My Project

Every student book that is placed in my library is treated with love and care, and my students are thankful for the opportunities to read. Students will be able to choose books which will help them continue to enjoy independent reading time, and they will have a better variety of learning centers to help grow their reading skills.

With these new books, my students will be able to choose from a variety of books that will allow them to read independently at their own grade level.

They will also be able to choose books that interest them. The best way to increase reading ability is to read more, and these books will continue to help my students grow stronger in reading. My students already have shown an interest in independent reading, and they love to work at learning centers that reinforce skills taught during small group reading. This project will only help enrich their experiences with the printed word!
