My Students

I teach the sweetest little First Graders. They are all from military families. A lot of them have one or sometimes both parents on deployment. They have a true love of learning and I consider myself fortunate to be their teacher.

My kids are mostly from low income families who qualify for free and reduced price lunch and breakfast.

There is no other population of kids that I would rather teach. A lot of them need just a little bit more tender, loving care than perhaps other children do. Thanks for reading about my students.

My Project

The kids will use these books at home. It's so important for kids to have books at their specific reading levels and this set of books will be used at the students’ homes during this pandemic. It's hard to find books that are this specifically leveled. It will help the parents help their children. Each week I will meet the kids in the school parking lot to give them a brand new bag of leveled books to read. The children will be so excited to have new books and to see themselves go up reading levels. I'm so thrilled that this project might actually happen. Thank you so much for helping these little first graders become better readers!
