This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Kindergarten is the time to build the foundation for strong reading skills and a love of reading! It is the beginning of their educational journey. My students love read aloud time in our classroom because it is the time of day when they get to sit back and listen to stories come alive.

I teach 24 enthusiastic and energetic 5-year-old students.

The majority of our school population is comprised of English language learners. My students come from all backgrounds and learning styles. They are hardworking students, and they do their best to accomplish their academic goals. Every year brings new academic challenges for our students and they try their best to do well.

My Project

My students love to read books and a listening center with a portable CD player would be a great way to help these kindergarteners further develop their decoding, fluency and comprehension skills. Students will be able to use the listening center to build their listening, speaking and retelling skills as well. Through reading, students will be able to explore story sequencing, identify characters, identify setting and plot.

It will make a difference to my students by giving them opportunities to build on their reading skills and encourage a love of reading in a fun and creative way!
