My students need bookmarks to help them take care of their books, learn library skills and to get them excited about reading!

My Students
We are a small public school Library, serving 380 students. We serve an 85% poverty group of students, grades K-6. Many of our students are struggling readers. I believe every child can learn, and we try to provide whatever is needed in our school to support that.
We are proud to provide a caring and safe school environment.
I try very hard to make library time fun and interesting, as well as educational. We are a Title I school, and many of our students have a very unstable family life, and some live in shelters. Many of these student never go to a public library, for all kinds of reasons. Our ELL population may know little to nothing about what a book is! I have to teach that from the ground up as well.
My Project
Bookmarks may seem like a little thing, but these "little things" help promote reading and book care! That really helps! I need to have students help keep our books in good shape, as I have a tiny book budget. I have chosen a good selection of bright, colorful and fun bookmarks all promoting reading. I love DEMCO and their bookmarks! They are SO much more fun than the sad, copy machine versions I make.
That also, sadly, eats up a lot of ink and toner.
Please help my students have fun and care for their Library books.
All these little supports help and build up excitement when our students check out their books. The "Five Finger" bookmarks also promote self-testing and monitoring their own reading level! "Do a five finger test"- they know what that means! Thank you for your help!
