Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Having snacks in my class is wonderful. Our school uses Positive Behavior Intervention Supports to encourage students to have expected classroom behaviors. Having a selection of cool items in my Rewards Zone motivates students. Getting rewarded with reward prizes that they choose helps them improve their class participation.

I am also excited to use the snacks in this project as part of a Financial Literacy Lesson.

The table in this project has a charging station with an electric outlet where students can plug in their classroom Chromebook. This table will be our research station where students will research the unit cost of the snacks in this project. They will choose snacks and add up the cost of the snacks to create an invoice. This project includes two types of chips (Pop Chips and Bean Pop Chips), two types of desserts (Nutella Go Cups and Ms. Fields Cookies) and two types of drinks (Starbucks refreshers and Izzie drinks). There is also a variety pack of Jack Link's Beef Jerky. Students will be able to compare the price of these items on Amazon and decide which items are a better buy.

Having the chance to do practical financial literacy lessons with real merchandise is wonderful. Students will read online merchandise reviews of the items they put on their invoice. They will eat one of the snacks from their invoice and write a product review. Having snacks to support this financial literacy lesson will help my students learn. Thank you for supporting my students' interest in financial literacy skills.
