This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

A day in the life of my second graders is full of fun as we all share in the love of learning. From writing and mailing letters to each other at school, to exploring what it's like to have a real job, we are always busy learning!

My underprivileged students live everyday to the fullest, and for most of them the best part of their day is going school!

School is the one place they always feel safe, know that people are cheering for them, and they get a guaranteed two meals (breakfast and lunch) every day. All of the support we give them comes back through their happiness and success, and a BIG thank you every year. With our day to day schedule packed with learning, we are left with very little time for creativity and conversations. My students love to socialize and show off their talents, and there's nothing better for them to talk about than a good book!

My Project

My students need books at various reading level since no child learns at the same speed. They need floor cushions to relax and enjoy a good book. Magazines for exposure to different materials. A storage bench to keep our valuable reading materials organized. Finally we need reward buttons and lanyards because we reward readers who practice extra and create super habits for the future.

Supporting my project will show students that reading is important for everyone, not just kids in school.

They are learning that you must know how to read to be successful everywhere. These items I am requesting make reading special for my students as well as show them how to be respectful to our classroom materials!
