Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school is a Math, Science, and Technology Magnet school with a diverse population that reflects Los Angeles County. Half of my students ride the bus in from various parts of Los Angeles County. Most of our school receive free or reduced price lunch.

My students are motivated and diligent students.

I not only have an ethnically diverse class, but I also have a class with varying academic abilities. I have students who have been identified with special needs as well as students who demonstrate strong academic capabilities. My students come with a keen interest in math and science. Our school's goal is to prepare every child to be college and career ready, especially in the areas of STEM.

My Project

While we are a STEAM magnet school focusing on being college and career ready, I would like to create a space for my students to become creative in the arts such as music and dance. The rhythm sticks, beanbags, rain sticks, and music CDs will be used to teach my students lessons in dance, movement, and music.

My students inherently love to sing, dance, and move.

The rhythm sticks, bells, and rain stick will help my student to explore beats and rhythms. The beanbags will also allow my students to move with intention while they listen to music CDs. My students will be able to be more well-rounded as individuals as they develop intellectually and creatively.
