They are tall and they are small, they are quiet and they are loud, they are really young and they are nearly ready to move on to the next school. But they all have one thing in common - they are excited about music and they love books!
I enjoy the variety that teaching elementary music brings!
We can play instruments and let our voices soar. We can be silly shaking beanbags and strum our ukuleles in full concentration. Every day is different and it's so much fun!
My Project
We love books! We love to read books and we love to listen to books! Some of the books have CDs or music examples to listen to. They give my students opportunities to explore different classical works, jazz music, and even Latin-American music while reading a book.
I would love to be able to offer my upper elementary students the chance to get to know various composers by using this wonderful composer book series.
There are also books that we can use during Black History Month or even a book about the orchestra that was made out of recycled materials. So many books offer so many learning opportunities!
The puppets will let us pretend-play and act out some of our stories. Freddie the Frog can go on many different adventures with my lower elementary students. I believe that you can never have too many books in your classroom. And with March being Reading Month and Music In Our Schools Month, this is the perfect time to stock up our music library!
