This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students all love listening to stories. However, they absolutely love listening to stories on CD. Whenever I am able to find stories on CD, my students are enthralled. I want to give my students a choice of age appropriate, quality stories to listen to that they can enjoy again and again.

My students are 3 and 4 year old preschoolers with mild to severe disabilities including Autism and developmental delays.

They are wonderful little learners. They are energetic, full of personality and at times mini comedians. The school they attend is in an impoverished neighborhood. Many days it's hard to get basic materials like crayons and glue. There are no funds available to purchase supplemental materials that support students learning. However, I refuse not to try to obtain the resources that I know will be an asset to their learning.

My Project

My students need Single Student Read-Alongs so that they can enjoy their favorite stories on CD. These stories will stem their imagination and help them develop speech by hearing new vocabulary. My students will be able to use them as a group or individually. I know that these stories will improve their literacy skills. The books come in a storage box that is labeled which will help me teach my students organization skills. I want to set up a center that is student friendly so my students can learn how to listen to these amazing stories independently.

Having the Single Student Read-Alongside will improve the quality of education in my class.

My students will have a variety of high quality stories for their listening pleasure. My students love listening to stories and with your help they will have a library of great books to listen to. Thank you.
