Did you know that reading to a child can be one of the best ways to help him/her learn to read?

My students attend what was, only a year ago, one of the most challenged schools in Baltimore.

They all have special academic needs, but are still enthusiastic and excited about learning every day. I know that they need to be exposed to as much text as possible in order to become better readers. The only challenge is the fact that the reading levels of my students span across a huge range.

My Project

In order to effectively teach all of my students, I need to be able to differentiate my instruction with appropriately leveled texts. Listening centers would allow for several small groups to listen to an audio version of their leveled book, while following along with a print copy. At the same time, I could be explicitly teaching another small group.

Listening centers would ensure that all of my students are getting the reading attention that they deserve.

My students will be challenged to learn with texts at their instructional level, and will be able to work in a small group setting. Please help to support my young readers!
